Mashobra Greens, Mashobra

On the Shimla-Naldhera highway, a rusty signboard indicates the Road to Mashobra. Only 12 km from Shimla town at 7,700 feet above the sea level, Mashobra Greens is an ideal Weekend getaway. A part of the reserve forest and catchment area of Shimla, Mashobra is also popular for its Apple Orhards. A broad cedar-shaded trail, criss-crossed by tiny streams, loops around the Mashobra Greens.

Mashobra Greens is a perfect place to unwind. Away from the crowded Shimla you would find solitude in the woods. Cedar trees found in abundance fill the air with its fragrance. The weather is sublime (10 to 20 degree Celsius). No car honking or tourist rush. Just cool breezes, lovely sunsets and quiet mountains.

The natural beauty at Mashobra Greens invites you to walk its paths or simply laze in the summer shade. The winding path leads to the breathtaking beautiful gardens filled with a profusion of flowers. The place is strictly for nature lovers. A warning for those who like blaring music, city-like facilities and modern gadgets: Please don’t come here. The camp here offers a variety of activities in its surroundings: from Rappelling to rafting on the river Sutlej. There are numerous defined trek trails where you can find spots for rock-climbing, rope course activities and star-gazing. Some of the most beautiful locations in the vicinity are Shimla (Queen of hills), Naldhera (Nine-hole golf course), Kufri (Ski slopes), Fagu (a picturesque village), Chail (World’s highest cricket ground), Narkanda (Apple orchards) and Tattapani (Natural hot-sulphur springs).

Mashobra can be reached either by rail, road or air. Direct trains are accessible from both New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations. You can get down at Kalka railway station in Shimla, and hire a private taxi, available at an affordable price. One can also catch direct flights from Delhi. Jubbarhatti airport is 32 km from here. Or else hit the road that connects cities like Chandigarh, Dehradun and Kalka along the Delhi-Shimla highway. Come here and enjoy nature for a few days. Guaranteed, you will cherish it for life.
